The Library
Dates of first publication, editions and copyright positions were checked on 11 Oct 2026 against library catalogues, publishers’ records and the free-text sources linked from each book. Where sources disagree — for example on the year of Wattles’s The Science of Being Great — the book’s page says so.
Copyright in Kenya follows the Copyright Act, 2001, section 23: literary works are protected for fifty years after the end of the year in which the author dies; a translation is measured from its translator. In the United States, works published before 1931 are in the public domain; for books published between 1931 and 1963 we have not yet confirmed whether copyright was renewed, and we say so on each one.
Free reading links go only to Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks, Wikisource, public-domain scans on the Internet Archive, and Open Library’s catalogue of editions. NOESIS hosts no book files.
Reading times use the words in each linked text at 238 words a minute — the average silent reading rate for non-fiction reported by Marc Brysbaert, “How many words do we read per minute? A review and meta-analysis of reading rate”, Journal of Memory and Language 109 (2019).
Book covers in the Library are NOESIS typographic plates, not publishers’ artwork. Browse the Library.
