The society's community initiative
Pages of Hope
Why it exists
A shelf of their own
Pages of Hope is the society's community initiative. Members and friends of NOESIS collect children's books, deliver them to children's homes and schools, and return to read with the children who receive them.
First pillar
Book donation campaigns
Campaigns with a named partner, a clear goal in books and an open record of what was pledged, received and delivered.
Second pillar
Collection drives
Drop-off points and collection days where good, age-appropriate books are gathered, checked and sorted before they travel.
Third pillar
Community reading visits
Vetted volunteers return to read aloud, listen to children read and leave the books where they will be used.
Safeguarding
Our commitments to the children we read with
These are rules, not hopes. Where software can hold them, it does: the database itself refuses to break them.
Children's names, faces and locations are never published without written consent from a parent, guardian or the institution responsible for them. The database itself refuses to publish an identifiable photograph of a child without it.
Volunteers who visit children agree to the safeguarding code, consent to a background check and are vetted before their first visit.
Partner children's homes and schools are named publicly only with their written agreement.
Money given to Pages of Hope is held in a separate ledger from membership fees and ticket sales, and is reported on its own.

How to help
Three ways to take part
Pledge books
Promise good, age-appropriate children's books to an open campaign. We write to you about where and when to bring them.
Give your time
Collect, sort and repair books, drive them where they are going, or read aloud on a visit. Everyone who visits children is vetted first.
Give money
Monetary giving opens once a dedicated donations account is set up, so that gifts never mix with membership fees. Until then, books and time are the most useful things to give.
